ЁЯСВЁЯОп Ear Training Exercises — Notes & Chords
Beginner — Single Notes & Simple Intervals
Goal: identify single pitches and basic intervals. Start slow — sing the pitch after hearing it.
Exercise B1 — Single notes (C, D, E, F, G, A, B)
Tip: sing the pitch before revealing.
Exercise B2 — Small intervals (m2, M2, m3)
Tip: try to name the interval by ear (minor/major).
Intermediate — Triads & Arpeggios
Goal: recognize major/minor triads and common arpeggio shapes.
Exercise I1 — Triads (Major / Minor / Sus)
Tip: listen for warmth (major) vs darkness (minor)
Exercise I2 — Arpeggio patterns (1-3-5, 1-5-3)
Tip: clap the rhythm while listening to train timing & pitch
Advanced — 7ths, 9ths & Inversions
Goal: identify chord quality and extensions, and hear inversions.
Exercise A1 — Seventh chords (maj7, m7, dom7)
Tip: listen for the color of the 7th (major vs minor)
Exercise A2 — Extended chords (9th / 11th / 13th) & inversions
Tip: try to identify the extension (9 / 11 / 13) or whether the bass note is inverted
